We are pleased to inform you that we will definitely move to our temporary accommodation at the Friends Meeting House at 9 Limes Road, Egham, TW20 9QT. Limes Road runs off the High Street opposite the Library. The premises are owned by the Quakers who have kindly agreed to let the building to us on a long term basis.
We have completed the processes to obtain Ofsted registration and planning permission from Runnymede Borough Council. For many families the good news is that we will still be in walking distance for you and your child. For those who arrive by car there is parking nearby at Egham Library and also in the High Street opposite Walnut Tree Gardens; there may be a limited number of parking spaces in Limes Road but this will be subject to availability on the day.
We aim to open on Monday 5th. January 2015 and look forward to seeing you and your child. Please ensure we have a correct address and telephone contact details in order to update you of any changes during the holidays and prior to opening. Should you require further information please contact Playbox using our email address firstname.lastname@example.org .
Thank you for your support for Playbox during the year and we wish you seasonal greetings on behalf of Playbox staff and the members of the Management Committee.
New address & contact details (from 5th January 2015):
Playbox St Johns Pre School Nursery
Friends Meeting House
9 Limes Road
We are pleased to announce the re-development of the church community centre used by Playbox nursery. The existing church centre will be demolished in 2015 and replaced with an architect designed building. There will be purpose built facilities for Playbox nursery. Further details of the project can be found on the St.John’s Church website at http://www.stjohnsegham.com. The expected completion date is Summer 2016.
This is good news for Playbox nursery. However, there will be some disruption as we will need to vacate the current premises by January 2015 and re-locate to temporary premises. Currently, we are looking at several premises in the Pooley Green area. We will remain in the current church centre premises for this autumn term and re-locate to the temporary premises for the start of spring term 2015.
We appreciate this may cause some concern to current and prospective parents. We will work hard to minimize disruption, maintain the character and strengths of Playbox nursery and we will provide parents with accurate information.
Please do speak with a member of staff if you wish in order to help you make the decision regarding a nursery place for your child.
As soon as we have confirmed the location of the new (temporary) premises we will publicise that information. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We hope to see you and your child next term.
(Chair – Playbox Management Committee)
We are pleased to advise that Playbox will re-open at 9.30 on Monday 24th February.
If you have been flooded or displaced by the floods we would love to know so that we can keep in touch and to see if there is any way that Playbox or St John’s Egham can help.
We are aware that some phone lines are out of order in the area, if this is the case or if you have been displaced please can you update your current contact details with us.
In order to protect the health and safety of the children following the flooding we are implementing the following measures:
- The portaloos will be retained until the water levels have reduced enough for us to use the centre’s toilets reliably.
- The back exit nearest the sheds will be used as the only entrance and exit. Extra staff will be on duty to ensure safety when opening the door. The path leading to this door and the concrete area in front of the sheds will be cleaned over the weekend. Please do not touch or walk on flower beds or anywhere in the garden because these areas have been under flood water a lot over the past few weeks and are probably contaminated.
- As far as we are aware the tap water is safe to drink but we are taking extra precautions and will therefore use bottled water for drinking and will avoid using food that needs washing. Antibacterial wipes and gel will be used for cleaning hands.
- The floor will be cleaned with disinfectant before Playbox opens and after anyone other than Playbox has used the centre, in addition to normal cleaning routines. In order to reduce contamination being carried in from the roads and pavements staff and children should bring in indoor footwear to change into. Please ensure that your child’s shoes and boots are named. We ask parents not to bring pushchairs into the building.
We are also aiming to fence off part of the car park to provide a clean outdoor play area. This may not be in place on Monday. This may reduce parking availability.
You can contact us at email@example.com or on the emergency phone number 07514038009 (please use texts if possible). Staff will be available to answer the Playbox phone 01784 435479 from 8.30 on Monday morning.
Sarah and Sian and the Playbox Team
Further to the flooding of the Playbox garden we will be opening at 10am Monday 20th Jan.
Final opening information will be texted to parents on Sunday afternoon using the Playbox emergency phone number 07514038009. Texts to this number will be answered over the weekend, and first thing on Monday morning.
We plan to open at 10am on Monday morning. By which time we will have two porta loos near the sheds and Caddy at the back of the hall. The Playbox garden and entrance will not be used to avoid contamination. The exit nearest the sheds will be used for parents and children, and for toilet runs. The sliding doors at this end of the hall will be closed to children (unless on toilet run) and an adult will be stationed between them and the outside door AT ALL TIMES to ensure safety. Children will be taken to use the loos with 1to1 adult supervision. A screened off “potty” area will be set up within the centre for those children who are not happy with the porta loos. We also have the church toilets as an additional back up facility.
If these plans work well then we hope to open as normal for the rest of next week.
